I've been very angry at Dove since February 14, 2006. I know it's a long time to be mad. I know it's crazy that this event has made such an impact that I actually remember the date but it was Valentines Day (excuses, I know!).
You see, my husband and I dated long-distance for most of our relationship. But after close to four years of dating, it was obvious to both of us that we needed to end things. We ended on very good terms, it was a mutual decision, but still my heart was broken.
Only a short time after the break-up Valentines Day rolls around. I'm taking the day in stride. I had prepared myself for it to be difficult. I was doing relatively well until a very well-meaning professor passes out Dove chocolates for the class to enjoy.
As the basket comes around I take one. I open it. And it reads..."Be your own Valentine." Need I say more?? I mean, who puts that on the wrapper of a Valentines candy??
So my boycott of Dove chocolates continues to this day.
That is horrible phrase-ology for a candy that should be encouraging.
ReplyDeleteYour blog is super cute! I just stumbled upon it.
And I really liked the Friends moment Friday about running! That is hilarious... haven't seen the episode, but I can totally picture it in my head.
Dude, I love that you boycott Dove chocolate because of that.
ReplyDeleteBut Dove is so good!
Ha ha ha ha. That's funny. And sad too, I guess. But mostly it's funny now because you married him so you don't ever have to be your own valentine again. ;-)
