Sneaky little Rascals

*Update* My vigil was quickly forgotten, but I just spotted two more groundhogs. This officially brings the count to four...our yard will never be the same :/

...And no, I'm not referring to my high school friends this time!

Something strange is going on in our backyard. We love our backyard. When we finally buy a house a good yard is on the top of our list of importance. We love sitting by our fire-pit, grilling out, and hanging our clothes to dry. And sometime soon we will have a Husband-made picnic table and Adirondack chairs gracing the backyard as well. But we, and by 'we' I really mean me , hate how lumpy our yard is.

For a long time I thought it was from all the stupid Chinese chestnuts that get buried in our yard by annoying squirrels. And then Husband the culprit was the albino skunk he saw--I'm still questioning if we ever had a skunk as I have yet to see it or smell it (which I'm not complaining about). But I now have a new theory. Groundhogs.

I saw a rather large one run through the yard a few days ago. And then just moments ago I caught the little rascals in the act. There were two--maybe three or just a large squirrel--digging in my yard.

Please excuse the poor quality of these pictures!

I am now standing vigil waiting for their return so I can gather more proof.

On another note...forget the usual signs that summer is just around the corner. Just look at my legs, or whole body for that matter, and they will tell you of the approaching season as I have mosquito bites everywhere! So should you see my legs anytime in the nearish future, please ignore the scabs that I have now developed from scratching so much. And while you're at it, will you also ignore the pastiness too?? These legs need some sun!
