Crabgrass

I don't know how many people are lucky enough to have crab grass growing all through their yard and flower beds, but I sure am. Have you ever tried to get that junk out?! It's roots are CRAZY!

I remember soon after moving into our current home, one of our sweet committee ladies came over to welcome us to the 'neighborhood.' I was showing her our yard as she named the types of plants and flowers that would soon be blooming. And then she spotted it... crabgrass. I knew it couldn't be good by the face she made. She look sorry for us since I had already described some of the things we were planning to do in the yard. She knew what I did not, crabgrass is practically impossible to get rid of. Just when you think you've pulled it all up, you find the crazy root system that twists and turns its way inches underground. Oh the time I've already spent this Spring trying to rip out the roots before they over take our landscaping.

"Each crabgrass plant has the potential of producing upwards of 10,000 seeds, which can lay dormant in the soil for many years.  Therefore, once a lawn develops a crabgrass problem, preemergent crabgrass control should be considered thereafter."

I share all this to say, I want my roots in Christ to be as incredibly deep and intricate as the crabgrass is in our lawn. So many changes have taken place in the past 2ish years. And so often I've been in survival mode and not taken care of myself the way I should. So I pray I will become more and more rooted and established in Him. Let me be more like crabgrass!
